In Mauritania, the Banc d'Arguin on the edge of the Sahara desert is one of the world largest bird preserves. These thousands of square miles of shallow water dotted by islands are inhabited by a few hundred nomads, the Imraguens, who live of mulet f ishing. A region that is a precious vestige of the time when the Sahara was not a desert. For the first time a film crew followed an ornithological mission of Paris Natural History Museum into one of the world's most isolated areas, a region of fabulous natural wealth where earth, sea and sky are one.
