Marking the 50th anniversary of the Antarctic Treaty, Cold War will expose the growing pressures mounting on this visionary, but fragile international agreement. It will scratch the surface to see what hidden geopolitical motivations and power plays lie behind the considerable money and logistics expended by individual nations in the name of Antarctic science.
90 minutes in length, the documentary will mix archive and contemporary footage of human activities in Antarctica, stunning images of the Antarctic wilderness, and interviews with key negotiators, scientists and commentators – such as our main UK consultant, Klaus Dodds, one of the best specialist of today’s geopolitic of Antarctica- to expose a struggle between political idealism and national natural selfishness interest as it is being played out on the last terrestrial frontier.
“Cold War” more globally, question the everlasting spirit of conquest of men before the last natural frontier still protecting it.
