Oiapoque is a fictional series (13 x 52') that immerses us into the intense conflict of a border zone corrupted by crime. Deep inside the rain forest, the Oiapock river, a natural border between French Guyana and Brasil, is both a reservoir of hope - and bitter disillusion. A steady stream of immigrants attracted to the burgeoning black market economy are swelling the ranks of the local population, where prostitution drugs smuggling and bootlegging has made it an illegal gold landmine,...In Oiapoque everything is good to make money.We enter the sweltering atmosfere of this out of control place through the crossed destinies of a policeman, a smuggler, a prostitute and an illegal gold washer. The series will be ponctuated by scenes of intensely real action, dark humor, and intimate, genuine feelings from the characters.Oiapoque will be shot in a documentary style on 16mm, in a similar vein to « City of God » codirected by Katia Lund, and who is also one of the creators of Oiapoque with Vicente Amorim.
